Telangana BJP Seeks CM’s Help to Secure Meeting with Rahul Gandhi Over ‘Unfulfilled Guarantees’
Hyderabad, June 21(TNT): Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao on Sunday urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to help secure an appointment with Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to submit a memorandum on what the BJP described as the Congress government’s failure to fulfil its election promises in Telangana.
The request came in response to the Chief Minister’s recent remarks seeking the assistance of Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy in obtaining appointments with Union ministers and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
In an open letter to the Chief Minister, Rao said the people of Telangana had voted for the Congress party in the 2023 Assembly elections based on assurances and guarantees given by Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
He alleged that several key promises made to women, farmers, students, youth, senior citizens, agricultural labourers and economically weaker sections remained unfulfilled despite the Congress assuming power in the state.
According to Rao, women are yet to receive the promised monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500, while farmers continue to await the ₹15,000 per acre support promised under the Rythu Bharosa scheme.
He further alleged that tenant farmers, agricultural labourers and beneficiaries expecting houses under the Indiramma housing programme have been disappointed by delays in implementation.
Highlighting issues faced by students and unemployed youth, the BJP leader claimed that the promised ₹5 lakh assistance under the Vidya Bharosa scheme had not materialised and that students continued to face difficulties relating to fee reimbursement.
He also alleged that unemployed youth were still waiting for the ₹4,000 monthly unemployment allowance promised by Congress leaders during the election campaign.
Rao claimed that senior citizens had not received the promised ₹4,000 monthly pension and that enhanced financial assistance for single women and persons with disabilities was yet to be implemented.
He further alleged that college-going girls were still awaiting the promised free scooters and that unemployed youth had not received a job calendar or adequate employment opportunities.
The BJP state chief said there was growing dissatisfaction among various sections of society over what he described as the Congress government’s failure to implement its guarantees.
In the letter, Rao urged the Chief Minister to facilitate an early meeting with Rahul Gandhi so that concerns relating to students, employees, youth, women, farmers, agricultural labourers, senior citizens, artisans and other sections of society could be brought directly to his attention.
He asserted that failure by the Congress leadership to grant such a meeting would amount to a betrayal of the people of Telangana and the commitments made during the election campaign.
