Technology and Spirituality Must Go Together, Says AP CM Nadiu at Yogandhra Event
Amaravati, June 20 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said India’s culture and values have elevated the country to the position of a global spiritual leader and stressed the need to preserve this heritage for future generations.
Participating in a special yoga session conducted by yoga guru Baba Ramdev at the historic Undavalli Caves as part of the Yogandhra programme, the Chief Minister said technology and spirituality should go hand in hand to ensure a balanced and stress-free life.
Wearing a Yogandhra-themed shirt, Naidu witnessed yoga demonstrations by youth participants led by Baba Ramdev, who showcased and explained several advanced asanas.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister lauded Baba Ramdev for popularising yoga among the masses and said thousands of people voluntarily participate in his programmes to learn the ancient discipline.
“Technology should be used without addiction, and spirituality and yoga can play a vital role in achieving this balance,” he said.
Naidu thanked Baba Ramdev for promoting yoga through programmes across Amaravati and Vijayawada and requested him to support efforts to develop Andhra Pradesh into a major spiritual destination.
“If the present generation adopts yoga as a way of life, we can ensure a better future,” he said.
The Chief Minister noted that the state government is organising Yogandhra programmes at various spiritual and tourist destinations across Andhra Pradesh and said conducting yoga at the historic Undavalli Caves was particularly significant because of their rich historical and spiritual heritage.
Referring to the global popularity of yoga, Naidu said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had played a key role in securing worldwide recognition for the practice, with nearly 190 countries now observing International Yoga Day.
“Prime Minister Modi deserves credit for showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage to the world. We must preserve these values and pass them on to future generations,” he said.
The Chief Minister said the state government is taking steps to increase Andhra Pradesh’s green cover to 50 per cent and is actively promoting natural farming, with nearly 20 lakh farmers moving towards chemical-free agriculture.
He also highlighted the government’s Sanjeevani project, which focuses on preventive healthcare. “Yoga and pranayama will form an important part of the initiative. We are giving greater importance to disease prevention rather than merely treating diseases,” he said.
Speaking on the development of the state capital, Naidu said Amaravati would be built as a pollution-free, net-zero city with a strong focus on spirituality, tourism and quality of life.
“Amaravati is being developed as a highly liveable city and is truly the city of the future,” he added.

Addressing the gathering, Baba Ramdev praised Naidu’s efforts to promote yoga and described him as a visionary leader committed to development.
“Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is working in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat. If every Chief Minister works in a similar manner, the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047 can be achieved much earlier,” he said.
Baba Ramdev also said Amaravati was emerging as a yoga capital and praised the city’s green development model. He commended the Chief Minister’s support for natural farming and described him as “a lover of nature, culture, yoga and humanity” as well as “a Yogi and a Karma Yogi”.
Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav and senior officials were present at the programme.
