Modi Calls for Trust-Based Global Partnerships at G7 Outreach Session in France
Evian (France), June 16 (TNT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called for stronger international partnerships based on trust, transparency and equal ownership while addressing the Outreach Session on “Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity” at the G7 Summit in Evian, France.
Highlighting the interconnected nature of global challenges, Modi said energy, food, health, cyber and economic security are closely linked, making international cooperation essential for global progress and prosperity.
The Prime Minister noted that in an increasingly uncertain world, trade and technology were often being misused for narrow interests, resulting in a growing trust deficit in international relations.
Drawing lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic, he urged countries to focus on building trust and transparency in global partnerships.
Outlining India’s approach to international cooperation, Modi said the country’s guiding principle of “humanity first” continues to shape its global initiatives, including the International Solar Alliance, Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, Global Biofuel Alliance, Mission LiFE and the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign.
He said this philosophy has also guided India’s role as a first responder during natural disasters across the world, citing assistance extended during a cyclone in Sri Lanka, an earthquake in Afghanistan, floods in Mozambique and a hurricane in Jamaica.
Referring to India’s development model, the Prime Minister said the principle of “Sarv Jan Hitaye, Sarv Jan Sukhaye” (welfare and happiness for all) has contributed to significant progress in financial inclusion, healthcare access, digital identity, technology-driven empowerment and women-led development.
Modi stressed that international partnerships should move beyond the traditional donor-recipient framework and instead be based on solidarity and shared ownership.
He also identified the lack of respect for international law as a major obstacle to global cooperation and called for prioritising dialogue and diplomacy to ensure peace, stability and stronger international solidarity.
The Prime Minister’s remarks underscored India’s emphasis on inclusive development, multilateral cooperation and equitable global partnerships in addressing contemporary challenges.
