BJP will hoist Saffron Flag across Telangana Municipalities: MH CM Fadnavis

Kaghaznagar(Telangana),Feb 7 (TNT): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday asserted that the BJP is poised for a decisive victory in the upcoming municipal and corporation elections in Telangana, declaring that the saffron flag would be hoisted across all urban local bodies in the state.

Addressing public meetings at Sirpur-Kaghaznagar and participating in a roadshow at Mancherial as part of the Urban Local Body election campaign scheduled for polling on February 11, Fadnavis said the recent landslide victory of the NDA in Maharashtra municipal elections would have a strong impact on neighboring Telangana.

He claimed a “Maharashtra wave” was building momentum for the BJP in the state, as people were seeking a clear political change.

The Maharashtra Chief Minister announced that a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj would be installed in Mancherial if the BJP candidate wins the mayoral election, drawing loud applause from party supporters.

Launching a sharp attack on the BRS and the ruling Congress, Fadnavis alleged that Telangana, once a revenue-surplus state after its formation, had been pushed into a severe financial crisis under their rule.

He claimed that mounting debts and an empty treasury were the result of corruption, misgovernance and administrative failure, accusing leaders of both parties of neglecting the poor and farmers while indulging in large-scale irregularities.

On inter-state water disputes, Fadnavis said Maharashtra chose cooperation instead of confrontation after the formation of Telangana, despite water-sharing issues persisting for over two decades during the united Andhra Pradesh period.

He asserted that irrigation progress in Telangana was possible due to Maharashtra’s supportive approach and stressed that benefiting a neighboring state without harming others reflected cooperative federalism.

Referring to the Medigadda issue, Fadnavis accused both BRS and Congress of cheating farmers by making false promises of compensation for lands submerged by the project in Maharashtra.

He alleged that despite Maharashtra supplying water, the two parties failed to deliver on their assurances, forcing the Maharashtra government to step in and compensate affected farmers.

Highlighting the role of the Centre under Narendra Modi, Fadnavis said funds were being released directly for urban development through Smart Cities and AMRUT schemes for roads and drainage works.

However, he alleged that the funds were not reaching the intended beneficiaries due to state-level failures, and assured that if BJP wins the elections, development funds would directly reach cities like Mancherial.

He also announced that a highway connecting Bellampalli to Gadchiroli would be constructed with the support of the Central Government.

Calling on voters to back the BJP, Fadnavis urged the people of Telangana to support the party in the municipal and corporation elections to ensure transparent governance and all-round development in urban areas.
