Telangana CM urges Centre to approve Hyderabad Metro phase-II pending Project

New Delhi, June 11 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday urged Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar to accord immediate approval to the long-pending Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II project.

During a meeting with the Union Minister in New Delhi, Revanth Reddy highlighted the importance of the proposed 76.4-km Metro Phase-II network in meeting the transportation needs of the rapidly expanding Hyderabad city.

The Chief Minister said the project would significantly improve urban mobility, reduce travel time, ease traffic congestion and contribute to sustainable urban development.

He informed Khattar that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Metro Phase-II project had already been submitted after incorporating the modifications and suggestions recommended by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Emphasising the importance of the project, Revanth Reddy requested the Union Minister to facilitate the required approvals and clearances from various departments at the earliest.

The Chief Minister said the expansion of the Metro network was crucial for supporting Hyderabad’s growing population and sustaining its economic growth.

Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Secretary to the Chief Minister Manikraj, Finance and Planning Secretary Gaurav Uppal, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited Managing Director Sarfaraz Ahmed and Special Secretary (Coordination) Advait Kumar Singh were present during the meeting.
