Haleon to Invest Rs. 2,000-Cr in First Manufacturing Facility in India at Madhya Pradesh
New Delhi, June 9 (TNT): Global consumer health company Haleon on Tuesday announced plans to establish its first manufacturing facility in India with an investment of about ₹2,000 crore at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh.
The proposed greenfield facility, to be developed across more than 40 acres in the Smart Industrial Park at Pithampur, is expected to strengthen Haleon’s manufacturing presence in India and support its long-term growth strategy in one of its key global markets.
The announcement was made in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Haleon Chief Executive Officer Brian McNamara, Haleon India and Subcontinent President Kedar Lele, and Chief Supply Chain Officer Namrata Patel.
According to the company, the facility will be built on Haleon’s latest global manufacturing blueprint and equipped with advanced automated production capabilities. The plant is expected to become operational by 2029-30.
The new unit will cater to growing domestic demand while also serving export markets across Asia, enhancing supply chain resilience and increasing domestic value addition.
Haleon said the investment aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and is expected to generate significant economic benefits, including strengthening exports, boosting local manufacturing and integrating India further into global supply chains.
The facility is projected to create up to 500 direct jobs, besides generating indirect employment opportunities through local supplier networks and ancillary industries. The company also plans to build a diverse workforce, with a target of up to 30 per cent women employees at the facility.
Speaking on the occasion, Brian McNamara said India remains a key strategic market for Haleon and an important driver of its long-term growth plans.
“This investment strengthens our local manufacturing footprint and expands our reach in one of the world’s fastest-growing consumer health markets. We aim to expand access to better everyday health for more than 300 million additional consumers in India,” he said.
Kedar Lele said the facility would strengthen Haleon’s ability to serve consumers in India and international markets, particularly in the oral healthcare segment.
He also acknowledged the support extended by the Madhya Pradesh Government and the Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) in facilitating the investment.
Haleon, formerly GSK Consumer Healthcare, is a global consumer health company focused on products in oral health, pain relief, respiratory health, digestive wellness and nutritional care.
