Kakinada Commissioner Warns of Penalties for Dumping Construction Material on Roads

Kakinada, June 6(TNT): Kakinada Municipal Commissioner N.V.V. Satyanarayana has warned building owners of stringent action, including heavy penalties, for placing construction materials on public roads and causing traffic obstructions in the city.

During an early morning inspection of Perraju Peta in the Fifth Division on Saturday, the Commissioner noticed construction materials such as sand, gravel, concrete chips and wooden logs occupying road space and hindering the movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

Expressing concern over the violations, he immediately directed municipal officials to impose penalties on the building owners responsible and ensure the removal of the materials from public roads.

The Commissioner also instructed officials to remove unauthorized flex banners erected along roadsides and at major junctions, stating that such displays adversely affect the city’s aesthetics and urban environment.

He said the municipal corporation has launched a special drive to clear illegally erected flexes and remove construction materials dumped on roads. Besides imposing penalties, stringent legal action would be initiated against violators, he warned.

Later, Satyanarayana visited the Anna Canteen near Vivekananda Park and inspected the quality of food being served to beneficiaries. On finding that some staff members were absent from duty, he ordered the issuance of show-cause notices to those concerned.

Sanitation Supervisor Naidu, Water Works Deputy Engineer Lakshminarayana, Assistant Engineer Arjun, and ward secretariat staff accompanied the Commissioner during the inspection.
