Telangana Formation Result of People’s Long and Determined Struggle: Srinivas Reddy
Hyderabad, June 2 (TNT): Telangana Media Academy Chairman K. Srinivas Reddy on Tuesday said that the formation of Telangana was the outcome of the people’s long and determined struggle.
Speaking after unfurling the National Flag during the 12th Telangana State Formation Day celebrations at the Telangana Media Academy here, Srinivas Reddy emphasised that freedom and self-respect are of paramount importance in the Telangana that has been achieved.
He said that, in accordance with the Constitution, government welfare schemes should reach all sections of society.
He lauded the State Government for constructing Indiramma houses for poor families after the people’s government came to power.
He also appreciated the government’s initiative to supply fine-quality rice to economically weaker sections through ration shops.
Highlighting the government’s efforts towards women’s empowerment, Srinivas Reddy said that women are being encouraged to manage supermarkets and petrol stations, while measures are also being taken to facilitate the construction of warehouses, thereby supporting their economic advancement.
He further stated that legislation has been enacted to ensure equal wages for workers in both rural and urban areas.
Srinivas Reddy observed that Telangana statehood was achieved through the sacrifices of numerous individuals. Journalists, poets, artists, employees, students and people from all sections of society participated in the separate statehood movement and played a vital role in the formation of Telangana.
He called upon citizens to carry forward the same spirit and actively contribute to the continued development of the State.
