Expedite Jal Jeevan Mission Works: Kakinada Collector*
Kakinada, May 27(TNT): Kakinada District Collector M. N. Harendhira Prasad on Wednesday directed officials to expedite execution of Jal Jeevan Mission works in the district to ensure completion of all projects by 2028.
Chairing the District Water and Sanitation Mission meeting at the Collectorate here, Harendhira said every effort should be made to transform all villages into “Har Ghar Jal” villages by providing protected drinking water to every household.
A total of 1,007 works had been taken up under the Jal Jeevan Mission at an estimated cost of ₹488.59 crore, of which 576 works had been completed so far, while another 431 works were in various stages of execution, he said.
The Collector noted that protected drinking water connections had been provided to 2,96,777 houses out of the targeted 3,79,185 households in the district.
Harendhira Prasad directed officials to accord top priority to quality while speeding up the completion of pending works.
Reviewing progress under the Swachh Bharat Mission, he said ten community sanitary complex works were underway and instructed officials to complete them within the stipulated timeframe.
The Collector also directed officials to revive village committees and conduct monthly Water and Sanitation Mission meetings regularly.
Emphasising safe drinking water management, he instructed officials to ensure that drinking water sources are not polluted anywhere in the district and asked them to prepare a district-level drinking water security plan by June 10.
