Tirupati : Sri Govindaraja Swamy Appears in Mohini Avatar During Brahmotsavams
Tirupati, May 27 (TNT): Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple witnessed devotional fervour on Wednesday as Sri Govindaraja Swamy appeared in the enchanting Mohini Avatar on a palanquin procession on the fifth day of the annual Brahmotsavams.
The procession moved through the Mada streets amid chanting of Govinda Namam, traditional folk performances, Kolatam and Mangala Vadyams. Devotees offered Harathi at various points during the procession.
According to temple officials, the Mohini Avatar signifies Lord Maha Vishnu protecting Dharma by distributing Amrutam to the Devas during the Ksheera Sagara Madhanam.
The divine form symbolises righteousness and universal welfare.
Later, Snapana Thirumanjanam was performed to the deities between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. with milk, curd, honey, sandal paste and coconut water, followed by special rituals.
Among those present were Pedda Jeeyar Swamy, Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, TTD Deputy EO V.R. Shanthi, AEO A.B. Narayana Chowdary, AVSO R. Srinivasa Rao, temple officials, Srivari Sevaks and a large number of devotees.
