Tirupati, Feb 5 (TNT) In preparation for the annual Brahmotsavams scheduled from February 8 to 16, Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam was performed with religious fervour on Thursday at the Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple here on Thursday.
The traditional purification ritual commenced in the early hours with Suprabhatam, followed by Tomala Seva, Koluvu and Panchanga Sravanam.
The Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam was conducted from 6.30 am to 11.00 am.
As part of the ceremony, the temple premises, walls, ceilings, puja articles and other sacred items were first cleansed with water and later sanctified with a sacred mixture of fragrant ingredients including namam powder, srichurnam, kasturi turmeric, pachaku, edible camphor, sandalwood powder, kumkum and other aromatic substances. Devotees were allowed darshan from 11.00 am onwards.
Meanwhile, Mani of Tirupati donated two curtains and two kuralas to the temple for use during the forthcoming Brahmotsavams.
The programme was attended by Special Grade Deputy EO Ms. Varalakshmi, Vigilance Officer Giridhar, AEO Gopinath, Superintendent Ramesh Babu, Temple Inspectors Dhanasekhar and Munikumar, Temple Archaka Balaji Rangacharyulu and other officials.
