PM Modi conferred Norway’s highest civilian honour during Oslo ceremony

Oslo/New Delhi, May 19 (TNT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred the ‘Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit’, Norway’s highest honour awarded to foreign Heads of Government, during a special ceremony held in Oslo on Monday.

The honour was conferred by His Majesty Harald V in recognition of Prime Minister Modi’s “outstanding service in the interest of Norway and humankind.”

The award marks the 32nd international honour received by Prime Minister Modi from a foreign nation, reflecting India’s expanding global diplomatic engagement and strategic partnerships.

Reacting to the development, Union Home Minister Amit Shah posted on social media platform X congratulating the Prime Minister on receiving Norway’s highest honour.

He said the recognition highlighted Modi’s leadership in promoting peace, cooperation and strengthening India’s diplomatic influence globally.

The Norwegian honour comes amid growing cooperation between India and Norway in areas including green energy, maritime partnership, climate action, technology and Arctic cooperation.
