AP to Introduce Population Management Policy, Incentives for Third and Fourth Child: CM

Narasannapeta (Andhra Pradesh), May 16 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday announced that the State Government would introduce a Population Management Policy and launch a new programme titled “Pillale Sampada” to address declining birth rates.

Speaking at the Swachh Andhra–Swarnandhra programme  at Narasannapeta in Srikakulam district, the Chief Minister said children were the real wealth of a nation and expressed concern over falling population growth.

Naidu said the government was preparing a special action plan aimed at transforming population into a national asset.

As part of the initiative, the government would provide financial incentives of ₹30,000 for the third child and ₹40,000 for the fourth child, he announced.

The Chief Minister observed that many families were increasingly opting for a one-child norm, while several countries were facing population decline and a growing elderly population.

He cautioned that such demographic changes were adversely affecting economic growth in several nations.

Naidu said the State Government would take measures to improve birth rates through the proposed Population Management Policy.

He added that the government was also strengthening Anganwadi centres through the Women and Child Welfare Department to ensure better nutrition for mothers and children.

The Chief Minister further stated that the government was already extending financial assistance of ₹15,000 to mothers under the ‘Thalli Ki Vandanam’ scheme.
