Telangana CM Receives ‘Cancer Atlas of Telangana’ from Dr Nori Dattatreyudu
Hyderabad, May 15 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday received the “Cancer Atlas of Telangana” from noted cancer specialist and government advisor Nori Dattatreyudu during a meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister congratulated Dr Nori Dattatreyudu for preparing and submitting a comprehensive report on cancer prevalence across Telangana.
Revanth Reddy stated that the Cancer Atlas would serve as an important tool in strengthening the State’s fight against cancer.
He observed that the report would help identify regions with a high prevalence of cancer cases and enable authorities to study the underlying causes behind disease patterns.
The Chief Minister said the data and analysis contained in the atlas would facilitate the establishment of specialised screening centres in areas where cancer incidence is particularly high.
He further stated that the government intends to decentralise specialised cancer care instead of limiting advanced treatment facilities only to Hyderabad.
Dedicated cancer hospitals would also be established in regions witnessing a higher burden of cancer patients, he added.
The Chief Minister also suggested making cancer treatment under the Aarogyasri Health Care Trust scheme more effective in corporate hospitals to ensure improved access to quality healthcare services for patients across the State.
The meeting was attended by Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha, Member of Parliament Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, CMO Principal Secretary Srinivasa Raju and State Health Secretary Christiana Z. Chongthu.
