Hyderabad, Feb 3 (TNT) : Former MLA from Manthani constituency in Peddapalli district, Chandrupatla Ram Reddy, passed away on Monday while undergoing treatment for an illness at a private hospital in Hyderabad.
He was 79.
A senior leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Ram Reddy had a long and distinguished public career.
He began his political journey as the Sarpanch of Khammampalli village and later served as the Mandal Praja Parishad (MPP) president of Mutharam.
In 1994, he was elected as the MLA from Manthani constituency.
His mortal remains is scheduled to be shifted to Manthani, where final rites will be performed.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the demise of former Manthani MLA Chandrupatla Ram Reddy.
The Chief Minister recalled that Ram Reddy began his public life as a village sarpanch and went on to serve as a legislator, rendering notable services for the welfare and development of the people of the Manthani constituency.
He praised Ram Reddy as a committed public representative who worked tirelessly to address the concerns of the people.
Expressing profound grief over the demise of Ram Reddy, State BJP Pesident Ramchander Rao said the veteran leader, who dedicated his life to public service, passed away after battling a prolonged illness.
Recalling his political journey, Rao said Ram Reddy began his career as a village sarpanch and steadily rose through the ranks to become the MLA of the Manthani constituency, earning recognition as a committed grassroots leader.
He noted that Ram Reddy was widely known for his relentless efforts in addressing public issues and working for the welfare of the people in his constituency.
“His demise is not only a personal loss to his family but also an irreparable loss to the people of Manthani and to the political sphere at large,” Rao said.
Rao conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that God grants them strength and courage during this difficult time.
He also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul of Ram Reddy.
