Hyderabad-Centric High-Speed Rail Corridors to Boost Telangana Growth: CS

Hyderabad, May 15 (TNT): Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao on Friday reviewed the proposed high-speed rail corridor projects centred on Hyderabad with senior officials of the concerned departments at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat.

The Chief Secretary directed officials to prepare proposals in coordination with the Telangana Government and the Union Railway Ministry.

He instructed all departments to work in close coordination on project reports and implementation, while taking necessary measures relating to land acquisition, connectivity, infrastructure development and other related matters.

Ramakrishna Rao said the proposed high-speed rail corridors connecting Hyderabad with major cities such as Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru could help transform Telangana into a “Telangana Rising 2047 Economic Growth Corridor”.

He stated that the project would emerge as a fast transport system for the country while supporting future public requirements and promoting growth in industrial, IT and tourism sectors.

Railway officials informed the meeting that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Hyderabad–Pune–Mumbai high-speed rail corridor had already been prepared.

Officials said proposals had been drawn up for an approximately 671-kilometre route, of which nearly 93 kilometres in Telangana would require land acquisition.

For the Hyderabad–Bengaluru and Hyderabad–Chennai high-speed rail corridors, officials stated that land acquisition would be required over an approximate stretch of 123 kilometres.

They also informed the meeting about the requirement for land acquisition in Kokapet and Shamshabad areas for railway depots.

The Chief Secretary directed the Roads and Buildings Department, HMDA and GMR Airport authorities to coordinate with the Union Railway Ministry officials and extend necessary support for the implementation of the high-speed rail projects.

Special Chief Secretaries Vikas Raj and Naveen Mittal, HMDA Metropolitan Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmad, officials from the Union Railway Ministry and representatives of GMR Airport attended the meeting.
