Telangana to Establish Minority Degree Colleges with AI, Skill Training: CM Revanth

Hyderabad, May 8 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday announced that special degree colleges for minorities would be established in all erstwhile district headquarters with a focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and skill development training to improve employment opportunities for students.

During a high-level review meeting on minority welfare in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister said the proposed institutions should move beyond conventional academic courses and focus on practical training and industry-oriented skills that directly benefit students in securing jobs.

Revanth also suggested extending incentives to meritorious minority students on the lines of schemes available for BC, SC and ST students and directed officials to design a dedicated programme for the purpose.

The Chief Minister instructed officials to identify minority candidates selected for Group-1, Group-2 and Group-3 government services and involve them in Minority Welfare Department programmes to provide them better exposure to welfare initiatives and administration.

As part of student encouragement programmes, the Chief Minister said individuals selected for government services and successful athletes should be invited to interact with students and emphasise the importance of education and sports.

He directed officials to prioritise Artificial Intelligence in the curriculum and teaching methods of minority educational institutions and ensure timely payment of honorariums to Imams and Mouzams.

The Chief Minister further announced that land would be allocated for Khabarastans in areas where land was available and said the government was working on a plan to improve the livelihoods of auto-rickshaw drivers by retrofitting diesel and petrol autos with electric engines to reduce fuel expenses.

As part of the Musi River rejuvenation project, Mr Revanth Reddy directed officials to construct a mosque, church and gurudwara alongside a temple.

He said the proposed religious structures should serve as centres for promoting understanding of different faiths and reflect India’s composite culture and Telangana’s “Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb”.

The Chief Minister said the sites should be developed as major centres for cultural and religious learning.

Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin, Government Advisor Mohammed Shabbir Ali and other senior officials participated in the review meeting.
