Puttaparthi (Andhra Pradesh), May 6 (TNT): Mother Easwaramma Day was celebrated with devotion and service activities at Prasanthi Nilayam here on Wednesday, paying tribute to Matrusri Easwaramma, the mother of Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
The celebrations commenced with rituals and devotional bhajans at the Easwaramma Samadhi located outside the Ashram premises.
R. J. Rathnakar, Managing Trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, along with Himavahni Rathnakar and K. Chakravarthy, Chairman of the Sri Sathya Sai Global Council and Trustee, offered floral tributes at the Samadhi.
Senior Ashram officials, members of the Ratnakaram Raju family and a large number of devotees attended the ceremony.
Prasadam, including puffed rice and tamarind rice, was distributed to devotees after the rituals.
The celebrations later continued at Sai Kulwant Hall, where children from Sri Sathya Sai Balvikas, Andhra Pradesh, presented devotional bhajans.
As part of the programme, 60 sewing machines valued at around ₹23,000 each were distributed to beneficiaries who had undergone free stitching skill development training organised through the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Andhra Pradesh.
The initiative was aimed at promoting self-employment and livelihood generation.
The sewing machines were distributed by R. J. Rathnakar, K. Chakravarthy, Trustee I.S.N. Prasad, Himavahni Rathnakar and retired IAS officer Vandita Sharma.
The programme also featured a video replay of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s discourse, followed by bhajans and Mangala Arathi.
As part of seva activities organised on the occasion, foldable umbrellas and stainless steel water bottles were distributed to flower and fruit vendors outside the Prasanthi Nilayam Ashram premises.
The items were provided by the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Andhra Pradesh.
The distribution programme was conducted in the presence of R. Lakshmana Rao, State President of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Andhra Pradesh, S. Koteswara Rao, National Service Wing Coordinator, and Sundar Swaminathan, Director of Sri Sathya Sai Media Centre, among others.
The celebrations reflected Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s message of “Love All, Serve All” through devotional and service-oriented activities.
