Hyderabad, May 6 (TNT) : M. Kodandaram, chairman of the Political Joint Action Committee (JAC) and MLC, along with Government Whip Addanki Dayakar, on Wednesday appealed to the Telangana government to increase the upper age limit for unemployed candidates by 10 years in upcoming government job recruitment notifications.
The two leaders separately met Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and submitted representations seeking age relaxation for job aspirants.
In their appeal, they stated that no major recruitment notifications were issued during the Telangana movement and that even after the formation of the State, the previous government failed to conduct adequate recruitment drives for nearly a decade.
As a result, they said, lakhs of unemployed youth had crossed the prescribed age limit and lost eligibility for government jobs, causing severe hardship.
The leaders urged the government to extend the age limit in all future recruitment notifications so that candidates who lost opportunities due to delays in recruitment could benefit.
They said the move would provide employment opportunities to thousands of youth across the State.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka reportedly responded positively to the request and held detailed discussions on the issue.
He assured the delegation that the matter would soon be discussed with the Chief Minister.
Bhatti also said a final decision on relaxing the upper age limit would be taken after consultations with the concerned departments.
