Summer Rush: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Steps Up Arrangements at Tirumala Temple

Tirumala,  May 3 (TNT):  In view of the ongoing summer holidays and the increasing influx of pilgrims over the past few days, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has put in place extensive arrangements in Tirumala to ensure convenience and comfort for devotees.

All essential amenities have been organised to minimise inconvenience during the peak rush.

The Engineering Department has taken up works worth approximately ₹2 crore.

To provide relief from the intense heat, shaded shelters have been installed from Batagangamma Circle to Gogarbham Dam Circle up to the Outer Ring Road.

Additional shelters have also been arranged at Vaikuntham Queue Complex–2, the museum premises and Narayanagiri Gardens.

Cooling paint has been applied in queue lines, while temporary shelters have been set up for waiting pilgrims. Special attention has been given to high-footfall areas, including temple surroundings, laddu counters and movement zones.

Synthetic enamel cool paint has also been laid on the four Mada Streets to reduce surface heat.

Temporary toilets have been arranged along queue lines from Bhatagangamma Temple Circle to the Outer Ring Road.

Health Department Initiatives:

Drinking water is being supplied continuously through mobile water drums by Srivari Sevaks. Each batch comprises 15 volunteers, with 45 volunteers deployed daily in three shifts.

Sanitation is being strictly maintained, with regular clearance of waste in queue lines.

Medical Facilities:

A total of 16 medical centres are functioning in Tirumala to provide immediate healthcare to pilgrims. In addition, a mobile first-aid unit has been stationed along the Outer Ring Road queue lines, along with another facility at Narayanagiri Gardens, besides dispensaries at Vaikuntham Queue Complex and first-aid centres along footpath routes.

Adequate Laddu Supply:
To meet the surge in demand, TTD has ensured ample availability of laddus. While around 3.5 lakh laddus are distributed on normal days, an additional buffer stock of 3.5 lakh laddus has been maintained during the summer rush.

Accommodation Facilities:
Accommodation in Tirumala is limited to about 60,000 pilgrims due to space constraints. At present, around 7,500 rooms and five pilgrim amenities complexes are available. Pilgrims unable to secure rooms can make use of approximately 9,000 lockers available at various centres. Rooms are not allotted to single individuals to prioritise families.

Tonsure Arrangements:
Elaborate arrangements have been made for tonsuring. Along with the main Kalyanakatta, 11 mini Kalyanakattas are operational across multiple locations. A total of 1,152 barbers, including 269 women, are providing services to devotees.

TTD stated that, considering the intense summer conditions, priority is being given to providing shade, cooling arrangements, cleanliness, drinking water, accommodation, tonsure services and adequate laddu supply to ensure a smooth and comfortable pilgrimage experience.
