Vizag set to emerge as India’s digital gateway with AI data centre: Jeet Adani

Visakhapatnam, Apr 28 (TNT): Jeet Adani, Chairperson of the Adani Group, on Tuesday said the development of a 1-Gigawatt hyperscale AI data centre in Visakhapatnam marks a significant step forward for India in the field of artificial intelligence.

Speaking after the foundation stone laying of the Google Cloud AI Data Centre, he said the project would position Visakhapatnam as a key hub in the computing and digital infrastructure sector, adding that the city is set to emerge as India’s next major digital gateway.

Adani noted that data centre infrastructure in India has so far been concentrated in cities such as Mumbai and Chennai, but is now expanding to Visakhapatnam, enhancing both domestic and international connectivity.

He said the initiative reflects the rapid pace of digital infrastructure development in Andhra Pradesh under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Describing the project as a catalyst for an “AI revolution” in the region, Adani said the group plans to invest $100 billion in establishing AI data centres, aimed at delivering advanced AI services to businesses, industries and a wider population.
