618th Annamacharya Jayanthi Celebrations from May 2 to 8 in Tirupati and Tallapaka

Tirupati, Apr 27 (TNT): The 618th Jayanthi celebrations of saint poet Tallapaka Annamacharya, revered as Padakavita Pitamaha, will be held from May 2 to 8 at Tallapaka, Rajampet (Kadapa District) and Tirupati with a series of religious and cultural programmes.

According to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the celebrations will commence at Tallapaka, the birthplace of Annamacharya, with Sankeertana Ghoshti Ganam followed by Srivari Kalyanam. Cultural programmes including music, Harikatha, dance and drama will be held daily in the evenings.

At Rajampet, Unjal Seva will be performed at the 108-ft Annamacharya statue on May 2, followed by cultural events in the evenings.

In Tirupati, the programmes will begin at Annamacharya Kalamandiram with devotional singing sessions and continue with music and Harikatha performances. Literary sessions are scheduled from May 3 to 7, while Sri Kodandarama Swamy Asthanam will be held on May 8.

Daily cultural programmes will also be conducted at Annamacharya Kalamandiram and Mahati Kalakshetram in the evenings.

TTD has invited devotees to participate in the celebrations and experience the spiritual significance of Annamacharya’s sankeertanas.
