Hyderabad, Apr 25 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday flagged off the flight hardware of Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram-1 , India’s first privately developed orbital rocket  to the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, marking a major milestone in the country’s private space journey.

The rocket, entirely designed and developed in Hyderabad, is set for India’s first private orbital launch attempt in the coming months.

Calling the development a matter of pride for Telangana, the Chief Minister said the state is steadily emerging as a leader in the aerospace sector and aims to become a global hub by 2047.

He noted that global majors such as Boeing, Airbus and Safran have already established a presence in the state.

Reddy highlighted that Telangana recorded the highest growth in engineering exports in the country  117.9% between 2023–24 and 2024–25  with aircraft parts and defence equipment emerging as key contributors.

Emphasising the need for industry-ready talent, he outlined the government’s skilling initiatives through Young India Skills University, Advanced Technology Centres and polytechnic institutions.

He said plans are underway to bring these institutions under a unified framework to ensure industry-aligned curriculum and training.

The Chief Minister added that Tata Technologies is currently supporting the training of instructors across Advanced Technology Centres in the state.

Responding to the initiative, Skyroot Aerospace CEO and co-founder Pawan Kumar Chandan said the company is keen to collaborate with the Skills University, noting that access to skilled talent remains a key challenge for the industry.
