Hyderabad, Apr 20 (TNT): Emphasising that safety remains the top priority, South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, on Monday said there would be no compromise in adhering to safety standards in train operations.
Chairing a comprehensive safety review meeting at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad, Srivastava directed officials to strengthen precautionary measures in view of the ensuing summer season.
Srivastava stressed the need for effective crowd management during the peak summer period and instructed officials to prepare a detailed action plan.
He also directed that adequate drinking water facilities be ensured and cleanliness maintained in stations and trains.
Highlighting fire safety, he said all precautions must be strictly followed to avoid unsafe conditions and ensure smooth train operations.
The GM reviewed safety inspections related to points and crossings, availability of walkie-talkies with loco pilots and train managers, and the status of CCTV installations at private sidings.
He further advised officials to conduct regular safety inspections at work sites and ensure staff strictly adhere to safety protocols, including the use of protective equipment.
On the issue of trespassing, he called for barricading at vulnerable locations, particularly at unmanned level crossings.
Reiterating the organisation’s commitment, the GM said continuous monitoring and strict compliance with safety norms are essential to maintain safe and efficient railway operations.
The meeting was attended by Additional General Manager Satya Prakash, Principal Heads of Departments, and Divisional Railway Managers of all six divisions via video conference.
