Telangana to expedite airport projects in Warangal, Adilabad, Kothagudem

Hyderabad, Apr 18 (TNT) : Telangana Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Saturday said the state government will fast-track the development of airports in Warangal, Adilabad and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts as part of its infrastructure push.

Reviewing progress at the Secretariat, Ponguleti said the government, under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, has prepared an action plan covering land acquisition, technical approvals and infrastructure development to ensure early execution of the projects.

The Minister directed officials to expedite works in coordination with the Centre.

About 953 acres have already been acquired and handed over for the proposed Warangal airport, he said the foundation stone for the airport will be laid shortly.

On the Adilabad airport, he said the project will be developed jointly by the Defence Ministry, the Civil Aviation Ministry and the state government.

He instructed officials to prepare a master plan and initiate land acquisition, noting that the facility would improve connectivity in north Telangana.

Regarding Bhadradri Kothagudem, Ponguleti said the earlier proposed site was found unsuitable by the Union Civil Aviation Ministry and directed officials to conduct a fresh feasibility study and submit a detailed report for identifying an alternative location.

Officials from the Airports Authority’s southern region, including Executive Director Raj Kishore, and Aviation Director Bharat Reddy, attended the meeting.
