Telangana Model Emerging as National Benchmark: Deputy CM Bhatti

Sathupalli (Khammam), Apr 17 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday asserted that governance in the state has evolved into a national benchmark, with officials from several states studying the ‘Telangana Model’ for its effective administrative practices.

Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating a 100-bed hospital here, Bhatti said the government is prioritising healthcare and education as the “two eyes” of development, with substantial investments being made in both sectors.

The Deputy CM announced that funds have been released to create nearly 14,000 additional super-speciality beds across the state.

He highlighted new healthcare facilities including a 50-bed hospital in Kalluru and a 30-bed hospital in Penuballi. He added that steps are being taken to fast-track the construction of a nursing college in Sathupalli.

Highlighting reforms in education, Bhatti said over 100 world-class schools are being developed across Telangana with an investment of ₹200 crore each, on par with corporate institutions. The government also plans to establish a Telangana Public School in every constituency.

He noted that diet charges in residential schools have been increased by 40 per cent and cosmetic charges by 200 per cent. From June 2, around two million government school students will be provided breakfast, milk, and ragi malt daily.

The Deputy CM said Advanced Technology Centres will be set up in Sathupalli, Aswaraopeta, Wyra, Khammam, Paleru, and Madhira constituencies. These centres will be linked to a Skill University established under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

Intermediate graduates will be eligible for admission with a monthly stipend of ₹2,000. Training will be provided in collaboration with companies such as Tata Group to facilitate international employment opportunities.

In a major welfare initiative, the government has decided to distribute fine rice to 1.06 crore families, which he described as a first-of-its-kind scheme in the country. In Khammam district alone, the number of beneficiaries has risen to over 13.22 lakh following the issuance of new ration cards.

The Deputy CM said irrigation coverage in Khammam district, currently at 3.40 lakh acres, will be expanded by an additional 3.16 lakh acres. He added that ₹2,500 crore has already been sanctioned for irrigation projects.

Under the Indiramma Housing Scheme, ₹5 lakh assistance is being provided per house. Around 4.5 lakh houses are under construction across the state, with 3,500 houses allocated per constituency. Beneficiaries have been asked to upload weekly progress to ensure timely bill payments.

Bhatti also announced plans to develop Puligundala Cheruvu and Kanakagiri Hills near Sathupalli as an eco-tourism destination, aiming to place the region on the global tourism map.

He reiterated that the government’s vision is to ensure education for every child, food security for every family, and irrigation support for agriculture, ultimately building public trust under the “Indiramma Rajyam” framework.
