Bengaluru, Feb 2 (TNT): Vijay Punjabi clinched the Men’s title at the K. Damodar & Co 10th Karnataka State Tenpin Bowling Championship, which concluded at Amoeba, Church Street here today.
In a thrilling stepladder final decided on the cumulative pinfall of two games, second seed Vijay Punjabi staged a remarkable comeback against top seed Akaash Ashok Kumar.
After conceding a 24-pin deficit in Game 1 (190–214), Vijay delivered a sensational Game 2, rolling five consecutive strikes to score 217 against Akaash’s 179. He sealed the title with a narrow 14-pin victory, finishing 407–393.
The stepladder round witnessed intense competition. In the opening match, third seed Shanmugananda continued his strong form, defeating fourth seed Parvez Ahmed by 37 pins (406–369).
Shanmugananda then faced Vijay Punjabi in the second match, taking a commanding 42-pin lead after Game 1 (231–189).
However, Vijay turned the tables in Game 2 with a brilliant 238, as Shanmugananda managed 136, resulting in a decisive 50-pin win (427–377) for Vijay and a place in the final.
