Hyderabad, Feb 2 (TNT): The Apollo University, in collaboration with the University of Leicester, hosted a one-day education summit here on Monday to address growing concerns around employability, artificial intelligence, and global career pathways.
Held under the theme “Global Careers in the Age of AI,” the Apollo–Leicester Education Summit 2026 brought together senior secondary students, parents, educators, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss career readiness for 2030 and beyond.
The summit focused on aligning higher education with rapidly changing industry needs, with speakers emphasising the integration of employability, adaptability, and resilience into academic curricula.
Sessions covered future opportunities across engineering, technology, healthcare, business, and computer science, while also highlighting non-traditional career paths and cross-disciplinary skills.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Henrietta O’Connor, Provost & Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester, said the university is embedding employability into its programmes by introducing 100 hours of work-related learning across undergraduate degrees to enhance career readiness.
Vice-Chancellor of The Apollo University, Prof. Vinod Bhat, said global education today requires a mindset shift, enabling students to remain locally grounded while developing global competence to address complex, borderless challenges.
More than 20 speakers from India and the UK participated in the summit, including representatives from Bosch, Google, Sun Life Global, HAL, Thrymr Software, 101 GenAI, KIMS Hospitals, Apollo Knowledge, and academic leaders from Leicester.
Discussions centred on innovation, digital transformation,and preparing students for an AI-driven workforce.
Organisers said the summit aimed to bridge the gap between education and employment through transnational education models and provide clarity to parents and students navigating future career choices.
