DISCOMs will not be privatized under any circumstances : Telangana Dy CM Bhatti

Hyderabad, Apr 12 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Sunday said a committee comprising senior officials will be constituted to address the issues of power sector employees.

The assurance came during a meeting with leaders of the Electricity Employees’ Joint Action Committee (JAC) at Praja Bhavan here.

Responding to concerns raised by JAC leaders over alleged moves to privatise power distribution companies, Bhatti categorically stated that DISCOMs will not be privatised under any circumstances.

He urged employee representatives to counter what he termed as “false propaganda” on the issue.

He said the government is committed to strengthening the energy sector and called upon both employees and officials to work collectively towards improving the performance of power utilities.

The Deputy Chief Minister also directed that complaints received through the 1912 helpline be resolved promptly to ensure efficient service delivery.

He further instructed senior officials to allocate one hour every month to interact with employee unions and address their grievances.

During the meeting, the JAC submitted a memorandum listing key demands, including the establishment of a third DISCOM, employee adjustments, implementation of the 2026 Pay Revision Commission (PRC), restoration of the old pension scheme for employees recruited up to 2004, regular promotions, fresh recruitments and resolution of artisan-related issues.

JAC Chairman Saibaba, Convener Ratnakar Rao, Co-Convener B.C. Reddy and other union leaders were present.
