Hyderabad, Apr 11 (TNT):Telangana Prisons & Correctional Services Director General Soumya Mishra, on Saturday said women are no longer just participants in development but are increasingly emerging as decision-makers,innovators and leaders across sectors including governance, technology and entrepreneurship.
Addressing a “EMERGE” Women’s Leadership Summit organised by the Hyderabad Management Association (HMA) here, she said women today are playing a transformative role in governance, technology, entrepreneurship and other key areas, shaping outcomes and driving progress.
She emphasised that empowering women leads to broader societal change and called for greater support to enable women to take on leadership roles across domains.
Soumya said the shift from women’s development to women-led development marks a significant transformation in policy, leadership and societal mindset.
Highlighting the impact of emerging technologies, she stressed the need for increased participation of women in fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) to ensure inclusive and ethical innovation.
She also shared insights from initiatives undertaken by the Telangana Prisons & Correctional Services Department, focusing on skill development, education, mental well-being and rehabilitation of women inmates.
Mishra urged young women to step into leadership roles, emphasising the importance of self-belief, creating opportunities and supporting one another.
“When a woman is empowered, she becomes a catalyst for change within her family and community,” she said.
Discussions covered a wide range of topics such as technology, media, policy, entrepreneurship and leadership, aimed at fostering collaboration and actionable outcomes.
Mishra commended the organisers and expressed confidence that the summit would contribute to building inclusive ecosystems and advancing women-led development.
