Khammam, Apr 10 (TNT): Telangana Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Friday said the people are prepared to bless the Indiramma government in future despite criticism from sections of the opposition.
He alleged that some opposition leaders were trying to shift the “mud attached to them” onto the ruling party and its leaders, but said such attempts would not affect public support for the government.
Speaking after inaugurating PACS warehouses constructed at a cost of Rs 1.52 crore in Chegomma village of Kusumanchi mandal in the district, the Minister said the government remains committed to supporting the poor.
He also distributed cheques worth Rs 58.58 lakh to 191 beneficiaries in the mandal.
Ponguleti said the government is procuring every grain produced by farmers across the State and depositing payments into farmers’ bank accounts within a week of procurement.
He said making the farmer a king remains the government’s principal objective.
Highlighting welfare measures, the Minister said the government created history by waiving Rs 20,670 crore in farm loans within four months, while extending Rs 12,000 per acre annually and a Rs 500 bonus for fine paddy.
He said new passbooks have been issued to 3.80 lakh beneficiaries across the State.
Stating that farmers had suffered due to the Dharani portal, Ponguleti said the government had “thrown Dharani into the Bay of Bengal” and introduced ‘Bhu Bharati’ in its place.
Later, the Minister attended the housewarming ceremony of an Indiramma house built by Depangi Srikanth at Venkatapuram and assured that every eligible poor person would be provided with a permanent house.
District Collector Anudeep Durishetty, Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt, Municipal Chairperson Pokabattina Anitha and other officials were present.
