Hyderabad, Apr 9 (TNT): Deakin University and Aikam, Telangana’s AI innovation hub, on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in applied artificial intelligence (AI), skilling, research and innovation.
The agreement was formalised at the Telangana Secretariat in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
The MoU was exchanged between Deakin University President and Vice-Chancellor Iain Martin and Aikam Founding CEO Phani Nagarjuna**.
Under the partnership, both institutions will collaborate in AI skilling and education, research and applied innovation, and ecosystem and industry engagement.
As part of the initiative, a joint Centre of Excellence in Applied Artificial Intelligence, titled Aikam–Deakin Hub for Research in Intelligent Technology and Innovation (Aikam–DHRITI), will be established.
Telangana ITEC Special Secretary Bhavesh Mishra said the partnership reflects the state’s commitment to building a future-ready innovation ecosystem and strengthening its position as a hub for frontier technologies.
Phani Nagarjuna said the collaboration would accelerate Telangana’s journey as a leader in applied AI by combining research, industry collaboration and skilling initiatives.
Deakin Vice-Chancellor Iain Martin said the partnership would help explore public sector AI use cases and strengthen India-Australia technological collaboration.
The collaboration aims to leverage Deakin’s applied AI expertise and Telangana’s innovation ecosystem to deliver scalable solutions, support data-driven governance and promote responsible AI adoption.
