Telangana Dy CM Bhatti says education key to progress, announces breakfast scheme for 20 lakh students**

Khammam, Apr 9 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Thursday said education is the true weapon for progress and announced that the state government will launch a breakfast scheme for 20 lakh students studying in government schools from June 2.

Addressing after participating in free bicycles distribution to students of government schools and colleges at Bonakal under the Amma Foundation initiative here,  Bhatti said no child should attend school hungry and added that a hungry student cannot concentrate properly in class.

The Deputy Chief Minister said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is giving special priority to the education sector and has directed officials to provide all necessary facilities.

He said free mid-day meals would also be extended to Intermediate students from the next academic year.

Stating that the government was investing thousands of crores in the education sector, Bhatti said every child in the state should be given the opportunity to pursue education and develop into quality human resources.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the government has initiated construction of 100 Young India Integrated Residential Schools with international standards, each being developed with an investment of Rs 100 crore.

He also announced that from the next academic year, one Telangana Public School would be established in every Assembly constituency under a semi-residential model.

These schools would provide free transportation, breakfast, nutritional supplements, mid-day meals, digital education, computer labs and sports facilities, he said.

Bhatti urged parents to support the government’s efforts, asserting that education alone can build an equal and progressive society.
