Telangana DGP Declares Karreguttalu Hills Naxal-Free, Launches Development Initiatives

Mulugu, Apr 7 (TNT): Telangana Director General of Police Shivdhar Reddy on Tuesday declared the Karreguttalu hills in Mulugu district free from Naxal influence and announced a series of development and welfare measures in the region.
Addressing after laying foundation stone for multiple development works in Pamunuru village, Reddy assured continued support for the welfare of the Guthi Koya tribal community.
On the occasion, he distributed welfare assistance, including an auto-rickshaw, a two-wheeler and essential provisions, to seven economically weaker families in the village.
Reddy also announced plans to develop Karreguttalu, known for its scenic beauty, into a prominent tourist destination.
To enhance security, he laid the foundation for a new police outpost and said an inter-agency coordination centre involving the Forest, Revenue, Police and Central Reserve Police Force would be established.
Later, he visited the Forward Operating Base of the 39 Battalion of the CRPF at Pamunuru and interacted with jawans, appreciating their service and stressing the need for continued coordination to maintain long-term security in the region.
The DGP, along with Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Suvarna, inaugurated a women-led nursery at Mormoru to promote afforestation and generate sustainable livelihoods.
As part of the “Arrive Alive” road safety programme, around 3,000 people participated, during which 200 helmets were distributed and free eye check-up camps for motorists were organised.
The programmes were conducted under the supervision of Mulugu Superintendent of Police Sudhir R. Kekan, with several senior officials, including ADG Anil Kumar, SIB IG Sumathi, CRPF IG Vikram and ASP Eturunagaram Manan Bhatt, in attendance.
