AP SIPB Clears 31 Projects worth Rs 39,436 Cr; 1.11 Lakh Jobs Expected

Amaravati, Apr 7 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said the state would focus on harnessing its solar energy potential, particularly in Rayalaseema, to develop it into a major renewable energy hub.

Chairing the 16th State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) meeting at the Secretariat, Naidu directed officials to attract large-scale investments in solar projects and strengthen transmission infrastructure to enable power supply to other states.

The SIPB approved 31 projects across sectors including industries, energy, IT, tourism and food processing, involving investments of ₹39,436.84 crore and expected to generate about 1.11 lakh direct employment opportunities.

Naidu stressed the need to develop solar parks in Rayalaseema and enhance grid connectivity with both state and national networks to facilitate interstate power transmission.

He said the state aims to emerge as a major hub for consumer electronics manufacturing, with focus on regions such as Sri City, Kopparthy and Anantapur, and called for strengthening the IT ecosystem through establishment of Global Capability Centres (GCCs).

The board also approved proposals from three companies in Amaravati Quantum Valley and encouraged projects that utilise agricultural, horticultural and aquaculture waste for value-added products such as ethanol.

Emphasising industrial safety, the Chief Minister directed the formulation of standard operating procedures aligned with disaster management norms for sectors including pharma, steel, green energy and battery storage.

He instructed officials to ensure time-bound grounding of approved projects and effective implementation of MoUs signed during investor summits.

To boost food processing and MSMEs, the SIPB decided to expand processing capacity in line with rising horticulture output and provide enhanced marketing support for crops such as palm oil and cocoa.

Naidu reiterated that Andhra Pradesh is committed to becoming a leader in renewable energy, electronics manufacturing and sustainable industrial growth while ensuring timely execution of projects.
