Hyd: Avadhanam Showcases Immense Potential of Human Brain: Former Haryana Governor Dattatreya

Hyderabad, Apr 5 (TNT): The ancient art of ‘Avadhanam’, known for demonstrating extraordinary memory and concentration, was showcased with grandeur during the ‘Maha Shatavadhanam’ programme organised under the aegis of ‘Jain International Vidyapeeth’ here on Sunday.

The event witnessed participation of Jain spiritual leaders, members of the community and several distinguished guests.

Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the programme, former Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya said ‘Avadhanam’ holds a unique place in Indian culture and reflects the immense potential of the human brain, which can function at speeds comparable to computers.

He said such events inspire students to improve concentration and achieve greater success in life, while also preserving India’s rich cultural heritage.

The highlight of the programme was the performance by Jain Maha Avadhani Abhinandana Chandrasagar, who demonstrated exceptional memory by accurately recalling complex questions, numbers, verses and sequences posed by participants.

His disciples Nami Chandrasagar and Nemi Chandrasagar also participated, showcasing the continuity of the ancient tradition.

Speakers said ‘Shatavadhanam’ is not merely a performance but a spiritual discipline that promotes concentration, mental strength and values such as non-violence, truth and self-restraint.

Trustee of Jain International Vidyapeeth Yogesh Gandhi said the objective of organising the programme was to promote the art of Avadhanam and pass on cultural and spiritual values to younger generations.

Trustees including Kailash Bhandari, CA Vikram Srishrimal, Amit Vajavat, Hitesh G. Mutha and Ankit Choradia, along with representatives Akash Guruji, Akshat Jainam, Rishabh, Akshit, Aryan Jainam, Pranam and others, were present.

CISF Deputy Commandant Ashish Jain and representatives from the popular TV show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, including Samay Shah (Gogi) and Goli, attended as guests of honour.
