New Delhi, Apr 4 (TNT): The Election Commission of India on Saturday said voters can now access details of candidates’ educational qualifications, criminal antecedents and assets through the ECINET platform ahead of the upcoming Assembly and bye-elections.
In a press note, the Commission said citizens can use the “Know Your Candidates (KYC)” module available on ECINET to obtain comprehensive information about candidates, including their liabilities and verified social media handles.
The information can be accessed under the “Conduct of Elections” tab, and users can also download the full affidavit (Form 26) submitted by candidates, it said.
The Commission noted that ECINET integrates over 40 applications and portals, making it the world’s largest electoral service platform, offering a unified interface for voter services.
Besides candidate information, the platform provides services such as voter registration, electoral roll search, application tracking, grievance redressal, e-EPIC download and real-time polling updates.
The ECINET platform also includes tools like cVIGIL for reporting violations and Saksham to facilitate accessible services for persons with disabilities, the Commission added.
The announcement comes ahead of Assembly elections in several states, including Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Puducherry, and bye-elections in multiple constituencies scheduled for April 9.
