Complete Amaravati Works on Schedule, Ensure Material Supply: AP CM Naidu

Amaravati, Apr 4 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday directed officials and contracting agencies to complete the Amaravati capital development works as per schedule and at a faster pace to enable their inauguration by the Prime Minister.

Reviewing the progress of capital construction works at his camp office, Naidu stressed continuous monitoring and timely execution of all projects.

Officials informed that works worth ₹57,821 crore are currently underway in Amaravati, of which projects worth ₹50,943 crore have already been grounded.

The review covered housing, roads, trunk infrastructure, LPS amenities and key buildings such as the Assembly, High Court and Secretariat.

Around 20,000 workers and experts are presently engaged in the construction works. The Chief Minister assessed the performance of contractors and expressed dissatisfaction over delays by some agencies.

Contractors cited manpower shortages due to elections in various states, leading to workers returning to their native places. Naidu advised them to utilise locally available skilled manpower to the maximum extent.

He directed that weekly and monthly targets be fixed and strictly adhered to, asserting that there is no shortage of funds for the capital works.

He also emphasised quality, cost-effectiveness and adoption of green energy and advanced technologies, stating that Amaravati should be developed as a future-ready city.

The Chief Minister expressed concern over recent fire mishaps in the capital region and criticised lapses by construction agencies in safeguarding materials.

He warned that negligence would not be tolerated and instructed officials to ensure prompt response to any untoward incidents.

He also directed authorities to ensure uninterrupted supply of sand and gravel required for construction, stressing that shortages should not delay works.

Naidu warned that strict action would be taken against those creating hurdles and asked senior officials to coordinate with district collectors of Krishna, Guntur and NTR districts to resolve issues immediately.
