Amaravati Unstoppable, Says CM; Calls It ‘Victory of Five Crore People’

Amaravati, Apr 3 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said Amaravati is “unstoppable” following Parliament’s approval of the capital bill, describing it as a victory of five crore people of Andhra Pradesh.

Celebrating the occasion at his camp office here, Naidu said the legislation granting legal status to Amaravati received support from over 50 political parties, with the exception of the YSR Congress Party.

He expressed surprise over the YSR Congress party’s opposition despite representing the state.

Naidu thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah Amit Shah and Members of Parliament across party lines for backing the bill, calling it a reflection of national consensus.

He alleged that previous attempts to stall Amaravati’s development under the three-capital proposal had failed, and asserted that no force could now hinder its progress.

Major infrastructure works in the capital are expected to be completed by 2028, he said, adding that the Prime Minister is likely to inaugurate key projects in 2029.

The Chief Minister emphasised that Amaravati would act as a growth engine for the state’s long-term economic ambitions, expressing confidence that Andhra Pradesh could achieve a $2.4 trillion economy by 2047.

He added that the current government is balancing development and welfare despite financial constraints, with a focus on short-, medium- and long-term planning.
