Two-Day International Conference on Organ Donation Begins at IIMA

Ahmedabad, Apr 3 (TNT): A two-day international conference on organ donation began at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) on Friday, bringing together global stakeholders to promote awareness and action in the field.

Organised by the Centre for Management of Health Services (CMHS) at IIMA in collaboration with MOHAN Foundation, the conference titled *‘Amplifying Voices’* is being held on the campus.

The event has drawn healthcare professionals, policymakers, researchers, NGOs, students and community leaders from India and abroad to discuss innovative strategies to strengthen organ donation and transplantation systems, the institute said in a release.

Inaugurating the conference, Prof. Satish Deodhar, Dean, IIMA, said organ donation offers an opportunity to save lives even after death and called for greater collective efforts to advance the cause.

Dr. Sunil Shroff, Managing Trustee of the MOHAN Foundation, described organ donation as a social movement that requires awareness, empathy and coordinated action. Prof. Rajesh Chandwani, Co-Chairperson of CMHS, IIMA, stressed the need for a systemic, multi-level approach combining management science, behavioural insights and community engagement.

The conference features workshops, panel discussions and international perspectives from countries including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Malaysia, along with sessions on leveraging technology and communication strategies to enhance awareness.

The initiative is expected to serve as a key platform to advance organ donation awareness and foster collaborative solutions in India and beyond.
