Vontimitta (Kadapa dist, AP), April 1 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday evening offered pattu vastrams to the presiding deity at Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple on the occasion of Sri Sitarama Kalyanam.
The Chief Minister, accompanied by his wife Bhuvaneswari Devi, was received with traditional Poornakumbham by temple priests and was presented with Shesha Vastram while Vedic scholars offered blessings.
Later, the couple, along with their grandson Devansh Nara, participated in the celestial wedding ceremony of Lord Sri Rama and Sita Devi.
The Edurkolu ceremony, symbolising the welcoming of the groom by the bride’s family, was a highlight of the celebrations and drew the attention of devotees.
Priests conducted the rituals in a traditional and colourful manner, recreating a divine wedding ambience reflecting Ayodhya.
The event witnessed large participation of devotees, with elaborate arrangements made by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, TTD officials said.
Under the direction of Executive Officer M. Ravichandra, TTD, in coordination with district authorities, put in place extensive facilities for smooth conduct of the event.
Seating was arranged for about 60,000 devotees across 121 galleries, with deployment of paramedical staff, police personnel, TTD employees and volunteers.
Twenty-eight kiosks were set up for distribution of ‘thalambralu’, and devotees were provided pearl thalambralu, Srivari laddu prasadam, kankanam and annaprasadam.
Around 21 LED screens were installed to facilitate viewing of the ceremony.
Over 3,000 police personnel, along with vigilance teams, fire services staff and TTD scouts, were deployed, with surveillance maintained through 235 CCTV cameras and drones.
TTD also ensured continuous annaprasadam distribution, while APSRTC operated 625 bus trips to ferry devotees. About 500 TTD staff and 2,500 Srivari Sevaks assisted in managing the event.
