A total of 12,235 pilgrims participated in the annual “Tumburu Theertha Mukkoti,” trekking through dense forests and steep valleys in Tirumala. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) made elaborate arrangements, including supply of annaprasadam, drinking water and buttermilk, besides ensuring security at Papavinasanam dam for devotees taking the route.
Authorities restricted entry for persons suffering from chronic ailments such as asthma, obesity and heart conditions, as well as children below 12 years, considering the difficulty of the trek.
Due to limited parking space, APSRTC operated special buses to ferry devotees from Octopus Circle to Papavinasanam dam.
On the instructions of TTD Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, officials from various departments, including Annaprasadam, Health, Vigilance and Forest wings, monitored arrangements round the clock to ensure smooth conduct and safety of devotees.
