KIMS Hosts International Conference on Advanced Pulmonary Nodule Management

Visakhapatnam, Feb 1 (TNT): In a significant boost to advanced respiratory healthcare, KIMS Hospitals, Seethammadhara, in association with KIMS-Ushalakshmi Centre for Breast Diseases (KIMS ICON), hosted an international conference on Advanced Pulmonary Nodule Management here on Sunday, highlighting the growing focus on early lung disease detection and minimally invasive treatment options.
The one-day conference brought together over 300 pulmonologists, physicians and oncologists from across India and abroad, underlining the importance of collaborative learning in tackling complex respiratory conditions, particularly early-stage lung cancer and indeterminate pulmonary nodules.
Scientific deliberations centred on state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic technologies that improve accuracy while reducing patient risk.
Key modalities discussed included Radial Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS), Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), Body Vision Navigation, Augmented Fluoroscopy, Robotic Bronchoscopy, Bronchoscopic Trans-Parenchymal Nodule Access (BTPNA), Cryo-biopsy and Radiofrequency Ablation—all aimed at enabling earlier diagnosis with better patient comfort and safety.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bharat Chukka and Dr. K. S. Phaneendra Kumar, Consultant Interventional Pulmonologists at KIMS Hospitals, said that timely identification of lung nodules can be life-saving, as it allows clinicians to intervene before disease progression.
They added that integrating advanced technologies into routine care is essential to improving survival rates and quality of life for patients with lung disorders.

A major health milestone was announced during the event with the launch of Cone Beam CT–guided lung biopsy services at the Seethammadhara unit.
With this facility, KIMS Hospitals has become the first hospital in Andhra Pradesh to offer this advanced diagnostic service, which significantly enhances precision, safety and diagnostic confidence in pulmonary nodule evaluation.
The initiative reinforces KIMS Hospitals’ commitment to patient-centric, technology-driven healthcare, strengthening Visakhapatnam’s position as an emerging hub for advanced respiratory and interventional pulmonary care.
