Tadepalligudem (AP), Apr 1 (TNT): World Homoeopathy Awareness Week was launched with a grand rally in Tadepalligudem of West Godavari district on Wednesday, organised by ASR Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital in collaboration with Umar Alisha Rural Development Trust.
The rally, themed “Bharatiya Homoeopathy: From Traditional Wisdom to Tangible Science,” aimed to create awareness on the scientific efficacy and accessibility of homoeopathic medicine.
The event was flagged off by Sadhguru Dr. Umar Alisha, while Government Whip and MLA Bolisetty Srinivas attended as the guest of honour. The programme was presided over by Dr. Akula Vijay Vardhan.
The rally began at the RTC Complex and proceeded along the main road, with participation from students, faculty and healthcare advocates.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Umar Alisha emphasised the importance of holistic health and said homoeopathy offers a safe and affordable healthcare option, particularly for rural populations.
Bolisetty Srinivas said the initiative reflects the growing focus on integrated healthcare and urged the public to utilise free medical camps being organised during the week.
Dr. Akula Vijay Vardhan said the programme reflects the institution’s commitment to combining traditional knowledge with scientific approaches in healthcare.
Principal Dr. Ananda Kumar Pingali said the initiative aligns with the mandate of the National Commission for Homoeopathy to promote research-based healthcare and added that outreach programmes would benefit over 2,000 people.
Faculty member Prof. G. Ravikiran Sastry highlighted the need for integrating technology and research in homoeopathy for wider acceptance.
A free medical camp was also conducted at the institution’s urban peripheral OPD. As part of the week-long programme ending April 7, a total of 10 free awareness, screening and treatment camps will be organised at various peripheral centres.
Diagnostic services including diabetes screening (HbA1c), lipid profile, thyroid profile and bone mineral density tests will be provided, organisers said.
