Tirupati, Mar 31 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) is aiming to install rooftop solar systems in 25,000 households by April 14 under a special drive across nine districts in southern Andhra Pradesh.
APSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Sivashankar Lotheti said the initiative is being implemented in Nellore, Tirupati, Chittoor, Kadapa, Annamayya, Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapur and Sri Sathya Sai districts, with a focus on SC/ST households, an officials release said here on Tuesday.
As part of the campaign, APSPDCL will organise a ‘Surya Ghar Utsav’ from April 4 to 14 to promote rooftop solar adoption and accelerate installations.
The CMD said work has already commenced in around 29,000 households with a capacity of 58 MW, of which about 1,400 installations have been completed so far.
During a field visit to Madibaka village in Yerpedu mandal, he reviewed the progress of installations and inspected safety components, including panels, lightning arresters and earthing systems.
In the village, installations are being carried out for 60 SC/ST households, with 17 completed.
He also reviewed works under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and directed officials to expedite power infrastructure and agricultural service-related works.
Officials have been instructed to ensure timely completion of installations while maintaining quality standards.
