Hyderabad, Mar 30 (TNT):The Commissioner’s Task Force, Jubilee Hills Zone team, along with Banjara Hills Police, on Monday apprehended 10 persons for allegedly illegally stocking and selling LPG cylinders at inflated prices in the city.
Acting on credible information, the police conducted a raid near a graveyard at Nagarjuna X Road in Banjara Hills and seized 414 gas cylinders of various capacities along with multiple vehicles used for transportation, according to Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyderabad .
He said the accused were illegally dumping HP gas cylinders near the graveyard and selling them to customers at higher rates, in violation of norms.
The prime accused Mohd. Aamir, was reportedly running a gas agency named “Metro Gas Agency” and was involved in diverting cylinders for illegal sale with the help of associates, he said.
Besides seizing the property includes 302 fully filled 47-kg cylinders, 148 filled 19-kg cylinders, 192 empty 19-kg cylinders, 35 filled 5-kg cylinders and 9 empty 5-kg cylinders, also seized several vehicles, including DCM vans, Bolero vehicles, Tata Ace, Tata Intra and auto-rickshaws used in the operation, the police office said.
Investigations revealed that the accused were storing cylinders in an unauthorised location and supplying them to customers at inflated prices for wrongful gain, he added.
The raid was conducted by Task Force personnel led by Jubilee Hills Zone Inspector Ch. Yadendar along with SI D. Ravi Raj and their team, in coordination with Banjara Hills Police.
Further investigation is underway.
