Hyderabad, Feb 1 (TNT): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday announced that it will contest elections in all 116 Municipalities and 7 Municipal Corporations scheduled to be held across Telangana, with the clear objective of securing Mayor and Chairman posts and winning a majority of seats.
In a statement, state BJP President N. Ramchander Rao, said that party tickets have been allotted after extensive consultations and a collective decision-making process. B-Forms have been issued only in constituencies where the party has a strong chance of victory.
He appealed to party workers who were not allotted tickets not to feel disappointed, stressing that the selection was purely strategic.
Rao warned that any action taken in violation of the party’s decisions would be treated as a serious breach of party discipline.
Party workers who file nominations as independent candidates or through other parties, despite not being allotted tickets, will be considered to have defied the party’s decision, he said, advising such candidates to withdraw their nominations immediately. Failing this, strict disciplinary action will be initiated as per party rules.
Emphasising that the BJP is committed to ensuring justice to every party worker, Rao stated that those who remain within the party but violate its discipline by supporting or contesting on behalf of other parties will inevitably face action.
He clarified that these decisions have been taken in accordance with the directions of the national leadership, reiterating that party interests are paramount over individual ambitions.
Calling for unity and collective effort, the BJP Telangana chief said that the active participation of party workers and the public is crucial for the party’s success in the upcoming elections.
He asserted that the BJP would not tolerate any actions that harm the party or undermine its discipline.
