Visakhapatnam, Mar 26 (TNT): Visakhapatnam Port witnessed steady movement of crude oil and LPG carriers through March, with multiple vessels arriving from both domestic and international ports, according to port Data released on Thursday.
Several crude carriers, including vessels from Russia, Iraq and Gabon, docked at the port during the month, reflecting continued inflow of imported crude.
Key arrivals included MT ‘Velora’ from Novorossiysk (Russia), MT ‘Desh Vishal’ from Basra (Iraq), and MT ‘Delta Kanaris’ from Gentil (Gabon).
Domestic coastal movement also remained active, with vessels such as MT ‘Swarna Brahmaputra’, MT ‘Swarna Ganga’ and MT ‘Swarna Godavari’ transporting crude between Indian ports including Kakinada, Mumbai and Mundra.
LPG shipments were also recorded, with carriers arriving from Qatar and the UAE, indicating regular supply of liquefied petroleum gas to the region.
According to the Data, over ₹2,400 crore worth of crude and LPG consignments were handled during the period, with quantities ranging from smaller LPG loads of around 22–26 TMT to large crude shipments exceeding 100 TMT.
As of March 25, MT ‘Centurion I’, carrying 100 TMT of crude from Russia, was undergoing discharge operations at the port.
Looking ahead, several vessels are scheduled to arrive in the coming days. MT *Jumbo*, carrying over 136,000 metric tonnes of crude from Russia, is expected on March 27, along with 24 metric tonnes LPG carrier *BW Birch*.
Further arrivals on March 30, 24 metric tonnes each of LPG carriers *Hellas Gladiator* from the Netherlands and *Gas Jupiter* from the United States.
In April, additional crude shipments are expected, including 96,542 metric tonnes *Fondeya* from Russia and 99,898 metric tonnes of *Desh Gaurav* carrying blended crude from Mundra.
According to officials sources, the continued inflow of crude and LPG highlights the port’s strategic role in energy logistics and supply chain operations in the region.
