Hyderabad, Mar 26 (TNT): The Telangana Government will organise the first edition of the Legislators’ Sports Meet 2026 on March 28 and 29 to promote sports culture and encourage physical activity among people across the state.
State Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao and Vakiti Srihari said the initiative aims to inspire students, youth and all sections of society to embrace sports, while also providing recreation for elected representatives.
At a preparatory review meetings held at the Assembly Committee Hall, the Ministers noted that this is the first time such an event is being organised since the formation of Telangana.
They said legislators from all political parties including MLAs and MLCs will participate, setting aside political differences and showcasing unity through sportsmanship.
The event is being organised in coordination with the Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Telangana Sports Authority, the State Cultural Department and other departments. Cultural programmes will also be held alongside the sporting events.
The inaugural ceremony will be held at the LB Stadium on March 28 at 3:30 PM and will be attended by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar and Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukender Reddy, along with leaders from various political parties.
The initiative is aimed at fostering a strong sporting culture in the state and encouraging participation across all age groups, the Ministers added.
