Hyderabad, Mar 25 (TNT) : The University of Hyderabad (UoH) has strengthened its global standing by securing rankings across seven subjects in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026.
The rankings, released by global higher education analyst QS Quacquarelli Symonds, evaluated over 18,300 programmes across more than 1,700 universities worldwide.
UoH showed notable improvement in several disciplines, with Linguistics ranked in the 151–200 band, a significant jump from 301–350 last year. Sociology improved to the 251–300 range, while Political Science entered the rankings in the 301–400 band.
Other ranked subjects include English Language and Literature (251–300), Chemistry (401–450), Economics and Econometrics (501–550), and Biological Sciences (651–700).
Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof J Anuradha said the university’s consistent presence in global rankings reflects its academic strength, adding that efforts are underway to expand its footprint across more subjects.
India overall recorded strong performance, with 529 programmes from 99 institutions featuring in the 2026 rankings.
QS rankings are based on parameters including academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per paper, H-index and international research collaboration.
The University said the achievement underscores its growing global recognition in humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.
